Gordon R. Simmers

Gordon "Gordie" Simmers, of Newville, Pa., passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 18, 2024, at the age of 66. He was born on January 7. 1958 and was the beloved son of Dave and Margaret (Brinkley)Simmers of Waynesboro, Pa. He was a loving father to Melissa Walters, Renee Simmers (fiance’ Ethan Franks), and Amanda Simmers. Gordon also leaves behind a brother, Dale Simmers, his nieces Annette, Shelly, and Lindsay, and his dear friends Evelyn Meadows and Brandon Mellott.

 Gordon was also a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: BreeAna Geiling, Aija McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Evangeline Murray, Aiden Jumbelick, Alayna Franks, Alexander Franks, Aviah Simmers, Gracie Barrick, and Jaxson Barrick.

  Gordon worked at Giant in Enola for over 25 years and retired in 2023. In his free time, Gordon enjoyed fishing, being outside in nature, baseball, country musicand most of all, spending time with his family. 

 Gordon had the biggest heart, and his motto was always, "Don't sweat the small stuff." Gordon is leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

 Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Mount Zion Cemetery, 5991 Mt Zion Rd, Waynesboro, PA 17268, with Rev. Wayne Good officiating. There will be a viewing on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 4-6 PM at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, PA.
