Jean Swartz, 95, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 15. 2023.

Born June 8, 1928 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. W.  and Elizabeth (Sheaffer) Evans.  Jean was the widow of Robert Swartz who passed in 2014.

Mrs. Swartz was a lifelong member of the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren.  She graduated from the Polyclinic School of Nursing in Harrisburg and was then employed by Dr. Alwine in Newville for many years.  She also worked for Carlisle Pediatrics.

Jean was a life member of the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company.  She loved all kinds of flowers and fresh arrangements were always on her kitchen table.  Jean found great comfort and happiness in her cat, Molly.  She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and trips to the beach.  Above all else, Jean loved her family and looked forward to their visits every Sunday afternoon.

Surviving are three daughters:  Wendy Gingrich (John) of Carlisle, Bonnie Grove of York Haven and Phyllis Hurley (Ryan) of Newville.  Also surviving are five grandchildren: Westly Gingrich, Ben Seagraves, Michelle Seagraves, Colin Hurley and Erin Hurley and a great granddaughter, Stella Sun.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 A. M. at the Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Road, Carlisle, PA 17015.  Viewings will be at the church on Wednesday from 6-8 P. M. and also on Thursday from 10-11 A. M.
