LEONARD C. COLE

Leonard C “Lenny” Cole, 91, of Carlisle, passed peacefully at home on Monday, September 18, 2023.

Lenny was born in Pittsburgh on May 2, 1932, the son of the late Leonard B. And Charlotte (Kuntz) Cole.  He was the widower of Helen (Smyers) Cole.

He was the president of Cole’s Bicycles, Inc., Carlisle which was established in 1940 and has been serving the bicycle needs of the Carlisle area for 83 years. Lenny was a graduate of Carlisle High School.

Lenny held the following memberships: Eagles Aerie #1299, Carlisle, the White Circle Club, Carlisle Elks Lodge #578, League of American Wheelmen, Harrisburg and Hanover Bicycle Clubs, National Bicycle Dealers Association.  He was a life member of the NRA and auxiliary member of VFW Posts 477 (Carlisle) and 7343 (Mt. Holly Springs), American Legion Post 101 (Carlisle).

Mr. Cole always participated in the Multiple Sclerosis bicycle rides and was the founder of the Summerfair Bicycle Tour of Carlisle.

Surviving are his children: Linda (husband Les) Goldinger of Mt. Holly Springs, Cinda (husband Kevin) Shannon of Carlisle and Leonard M “Mike” (wife Jacki) Cole of Boiling Springs.  Also surviving are two sisters: Leona Webb of Carlisle and Margaret Cole of Boston, MA and his grandchildren: Leonard Benjamin Cole, Lucy Barnett Cole Henderson, Caroline Sayers, Ethan Cole and Laura Ellen Cole.
