Mary E. Shughart

Mary E. Kingsborough Shughart, 90, of Carlisle, PA returned to her Heavenly Father’s home on April 24, 2018. Born July 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Pearl and George Kingsborough and was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William L. Shughart; her sister, Velva M. Darr; and her brother, Lee Kingsborough.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary E. Hickman, Richburg, SC and Rita Spittler (Larry), Mechanicsburg, PA. In addition, she is survived by six grandchildren, Stephani Redcay (John), Carlisle, PA; Stephen C. Adams (Stacey) San Antonio, TX; Jennifer Houtz (DeWayne), Springville, UT; Jesse Hickman (Sheilla Cataluna), Baltimore, MD; Sara Ackerman (Daniel), Long Valley, NJ, and Shannon Leonard (Kris) Camp Hill, PA, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Clarence Kingsborough, Carlisle, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carlisle, where she served as Superintendent of the Cradle Roll for over 30 years.

Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Funeral services will be held at Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle on Friday May 4 at 11:30 AM with Rev. Mary Ann Kingsborough and Rev. David Kingsborough officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Visiting Pastor Usage of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 201 West Louther Street, Carlisle, PA, 17013.
