RUTH E. LEIB
Ruth E. Leib, 87, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at her home surrounded by loving family.
Born in Hampden Township, PA on November 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Philip A. and Elsie R. (Bricker) Shields. She was the widow of William E. Leib, who died November 29, 2011. They were married 61 years.
Mrs. Leib was a 1949 graduate of Mechanicsburg Area High School. She had been employed by the former Mechanicsburg Naval Depot and Valley Pride Baking Co. Ruth retired from First Bank & Trust Company, Mechanicsburg, where she began as a teller and retired as branch manager at the Messiah Village Branch.
Mrs. Leib was involved with the Central Pa Square Dance Caller’s Association, the Flirts and Skirts Square Dance Club, Senior Extension and the Cumberland County Farm Women. She was a member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boiling Springs.
Ruth was a good mother who raised her children by example.
She was predeceased by two sisters: Pearl Styer and Margaret Nailor.
Surviving are a son: Robert E. (Kym) Leib of Terre Haute, IN; two daughters: Patricia E. Leib and Roxann (Jim) Clay, both of Mechanicsburg; a sister: Pauline Trace of Mechanicsburg and a brother: Philip Shields (Leola) of Dillsburg. three grandsons: William G. Leib (Nicole) of Morris, OK; Lt. Anthony J. Clay, USNR (Lauren) of Olive Branch, MS and Andrew D. Clay (Jewely) of Rayne, LA; five great grandchildren: Wyatt Leib, Parker Clay, Mackenzie Clay, Madison Clay and Hannah Clay.
The family invites you to celebrate Ruth’s life at a Remembrance Luncheon at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 325 Old Stonehouse Rd., S., Boiling Springs on Monday, January 29, 2019 at 12 Noon. Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Boiling Springs.
The family would like to thank the Homeland Hospice nurse and Home Care team for the compassionate and outstanding care they provided to their Mother.
