WANDA G. JONES

Wanda G. Jones, 73, of Carlisle, passed away at home on Saturday, March 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with dementia that ultimately stole her life from her and the family.

Born May 23, 1951 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Mary L. (Mommen) Behrens.

Wanda was a 1970 graduate of Carlisle High School. She had been employed at United Telephone and as a personal care aide at Carlisle High School. Ultimately, she retired from PSU Dickinson School of Law in June of 2016 as an Admissions Counselor after 24 years of service. In between her years of employment, Wanda was also blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to raise her children as well as provide childcare for other families.

Wanda was beautiful inside and out, with a magnetic personality that attracted people to her. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, wanting to keep them close to her. Anytime a friend or family member had a tragedy, she was the first to be there to give comfort or assistance. If not at home, she enjoyed shopping or was at the beach, which she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: David and William Behrens.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 51 years: Larry E. Jones, daughters, Lori E .Chestnut (Kevin) of Newville, Staci E. Fleming (Nicholas) of Carlisle, sons, Kevin S. Jones (Myachiya) of Lewistown and Scott A. Jones of Newville. Also surviving are sisters: Patty Garver (Glenn) of Shiremanstown and Nancy Wolf (Steve) of Carlisle as well as 7 grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 20, 2025 from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2 PM
