William J. “Bill” Heiser, 99, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 20, 2024, joining the love of his life and wife of 66 years, Erma L. (Baty) Heiser. Bill was born on Tuesday January 13, 1925, to the late Calvin B. and Jane C. (Eyster) Heiser, and is also predeceased by his brother, Paul E. Heiser.
Bill began his career as an airplane mechanic at Middletown Airforce Base during WW II. After the war, he sold cars for his Uncle Raymond L. Eyster’s Pontiac dealership in Carlisle. In 1959 he went to work for the Peter J. Sweitzer Division of Kimberly Clark Corporation in Mt. Holly Springs, PA, and it was from there that he retired in 1984.
Throughout his entire life, Bill held an unwavering faith in God. He was a devout founding member of the Carlisle Church of Christ where he made a multitude of eternal friendships and for which he served many years as an Elder. “Papa Heiser” was an example of God’s fatherly love to many throughout the years, even being referred to by some as their adopted dad.
Bill is survived by his sons, Robert (Jennifer) Heiser of Mechanicsburg, Kenneth (Lucinda) Heiser of Mt. Holly Springs, and Thomas (Martha) Heiser of Ashland, Virginia, five grandchildren (Jenny Shank, Amy Heiser, Will Heiser, Jesse Lyell, and Jake Lyell), four great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. at the Carlisle Church of Christ, 971 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle on Saturday, March 2nd, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00. Interment will be at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carlisle Church of Christ.
